In 1996, Time Warner sponsored an essay contest on "What does it mean to be an American." The results: essay. One Student won $1500 for his essay.

The contest is called "It's Us"
The essay will be written on one of the four topics:

What does it mean to be - and to become - an American?

What traditions and dreams do Americans share?

What challenges prevent Americans to meet and overcome the challenges that prevent us from living in harmony?

How can Americans meet and overcome the challenges that prevent us from living in harmony?
