Dear friends,

Hello name is Fusako Shibata. I am a Japanese girl. I am a sixteen years
old. I am a student at Hikarigaoka Girls High School.

I will talk about NAGASAKI. This story happend during the second world
war.

"I'm a traditional Japanese doll. Fifty years ago I was loved by Youko.
She had four sisters and brothers. One day she presented me to her friend
who moved into the town to evacuate from bombing during the war. She said
'Please think that this doll is me and love it.' A month later, on August
9th, an atomic bomb was dorpped. The time Youko's parents came home,
there only remained a little bone in the ruin of the house. The parents
were very sad. They could do nothing but cry. The mother was too sad and
began to lead an abnormal life. Three months passed. Then one day the
friend visited Youko's parents and gave them doll and said, 'This is a
doll, but this is Youko.' The mother looked me and began to sing a
lullaby. She started to live a normanl life again.
Since then the parents formed a habit of gethering dolls."

It is 51 years since the end of Second World War. Now there are fifty
one dolls in their house .

I wish that everyone will live peacefully all over the world.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please write me back as soon as
possible.

May God bless you with His love!

  Best regards,

  Fusako SHIBATA

bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of the Second
World War in the first term. During the last summer vacation, Iread
that Hiroshima's people held "The Anniversary of the Atomic Bombing"on 6th
August in the newspaper. When I looked at the picture of the Atomic Bomb
Memorial Dome, I thought that war should never break out again, and now I
hate the existence of nuclear powers. What do you think about it?

I'm intreseted in religion. I'm not Christian, I'm specially interested

 Dear my friends,

Nice to meet you. Please let me introduce myself. My name is Rie
NAKAMURA. I'm 16years old. I'm a student at Hikarigaoka Girls' High
School in the city of Okazaki, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. I like music
and drawing pictures. I also like reading comics(now I often read Snoopy).

I belong to international course in my school. We are going to go to
Australia or New Zealand this coming July and August. I'm interested
in Greek and Roman myths very much, so when I go homestay I'm going to
ask my hostfamily about it.

I learned that the atomic bombs were dropped on Hirosima and Nagasaki
in 1945. Last summer,I read about the Peace Memorial Seremony in
the newspaper. The ceremony is held in Hirosima and people pray for
killed by the atomic bombs and many of whom their identity are unknown on
6th of August every year. By the atomic bomb a great many lives were
lost. I think it must be known to all people around the world. Some
people says that the atomic bomb should not exist, other says that it was
right to have dropped the bombs. How do you think? Which opinion do you
agree with? Please tell me your opinions! I can't understand English
very well. If you send me in easy English,I will very happy. I'm looking
forward to your reply.

 Sincerely,
  Rie NAKAMURA

                        The Nuclear weapons

                                          3-G No.6 Maho Ishikawa

Nuclear weapons are dreadful bombs. When America and the former
Soviet Union disputed in Cold War. They made these bombs to annihilate
living life in the world. These weapons were also made by the other
countries, but they may not be made now. For example, France, China and
North Korea, etc....
France carried out some nuclear tests later year. Those who took part
in France said, "Radioaetivity doesn't leak out around there, so everyone
doesn't need to worry." But I didn't think so. Probably people around
there will be countaminated by radioactivity. If thier children are born,
they will be deformed children. So I opposed a nuclear test. Of course,
I think almost all Japanese people opposed about it, too. Because the
atomic bombs were dropped on Japan by America about fifty years ago, and
we know the terror of nuclear weapons.
Two atomic bombs were dropped on Japan, one was in Hiroshima on August 6,
1945, the other was in Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. After the atomic bomb
was dropped on Hiroshima, its city became burnt field and more than half of
the population of Hiroshima died. More than 200,000 people died then.
Besides about 700,000 people died in Nagasaki.
Although two atomic bombs were dropped in two cites, there were many
surviors. They were taken ill to be exposed to radioactivity. After that,
more than thirty hundred thousands people died by this illness. There are
a lot of sufferers from sequela now. They are fighting against that
sequela. They are leukemia, cancer and so on. Suffering people are
complaining of pain in their bodies. I suppose they feel it worst to drop
the atomic bombs and make the nuclear weapons.
Actually I think nuclear weapons are fearful. I hope that the same
things will not recur time after time, and I think each country helps each
other, it is the most importand for us to keep peace.

                        We have a problem!!

                                         3G No.28 Yayoi Nagai

What if the world had on accident caused by atomic weapons. We must
look again at the policy of atomic weapons and we think that atomic weapons
should be done away withand plans. Each country has stopped a policy of
atomic weapons and all have the opinion that we must be control.
There are about 1,500,000 nuclear weapons in the world. They are
increasing by about 100 or more in each day. These quantities can
massacre many people. Many sufferers are effected by nuclear tests.
These facts are made by human, we are damaging ourselves. They are
horrible facts. We must not think that if we have a nuclear weapon, we
would be strong. Because nuclear weapons are terrible and the damage they
cause is great people.
People need to learn about nuclear weapons before they use them. Can't we
live without nuclear weapons?
Some people are opposed!! they think about only harm to everything.
Others agree to nuclear weapons. But they think only about their own
country becoming powerful!!
These days, France held nuclear tests. The south pacific countries and
Asia and all over the world had many opinions about opposition. But France
took no notice of their opinion. So I think that France were thinking
about their country, they were not going to accept opinions of other
countries. So we cannot allow France to do this.
We cannot say that don't use nuclear weapons. But we should think about
how to use them.
If some countries do not have nuclear weapons, they cannot show their strength.
 Is this idea true?
Once more if our country has nuclear weapons, can we think that own
country is powerful?
Most of countries have some nuclear weapons. But if they have them, are
their countries stronger?

        Thinking about a nuclear weapon.

                                          3-H NO34 Ryoko Maekawa

The present time, how many nuclear weapons exist in the world? Some coun-
tries such as America, France, China are known to have, but other countri-
es also posses nuclear weapons in the shadow. We can possible to know ab-
out the news, but we do not know it is true or not. TV often reports ab-
nuclear power. Can we take no notice as it is? I have many things that
I want to say about nuclear weapons.
First of all, do you think every country's leader really uses nuclear
weapons when the war breaks out? Why do they need to use nuclear weap-
ons? Do they think they can conquer the world? If they have conquerd,
it will never be peace. Only people's unhappies will be left. Are the
war leaders glad to see people's unhappines? We all wish for the pease
world. Why do the war leaders need to have nuclear weapons? It is not
obvious that the human race will be killed by the nuclear weapons. Many
animals have been killed by people till now, but this time we might die
out by ourselves. Does the nuclear power understand that the innocent of
the crime people make unhappiness in the world?
President Chirac in France, carried out nuclear tests many times in Mu-
ruroa. Although a lot of people all over the world opposed and criticed,
furthermore it isn't France instead of carried out beautiful island in
the South Pacific. President Chirac said, “ It isn't caused by nuclear
test," but why didn't he do nuclear test in France? I can't forgive Pre-
sident Chirac or French Gorvernment absolutely. I think nuclear weapons
will not vanish forever, because of the existense of people like the Pre-
sident of French. We don't need to have nuclear weapons. The others,
bomb use for the war, missile etc. We must think more seriously about
all over the world. Especially, Japanese have to show more positive
attitude about nuclear disarmament as the only country in the world to
have suffered from an atomic bomb dropped on it.
