Dear Rie;

Do you think it was right to drop the bomb?

At the time it was necessary to protect the lives of American
citizens, During the a time of Japanese aggression.

Which opinion do you agree with now?

It was tragic but it was necessary at the time. When Japan attack Pearl
Harbor, we reached a point where we could not turn back. According to
the inforamation provide for us we believe that our president made the
best possible decision at the time.

Should atomic weapons exist?

Yes because it gives a sense of power to the country and a sense of
safety to its people. For example if a country lets say the United
States didn't have any atomic weapons then another country that have
these weapons can decide to attack the United States and we would be
powerless to stop it, but on the other hand since we do have atomic
weapons another country would not want to attack us because we can
counterattack them. Therefore it's safer for atomic weapons to exists in
the U.S.

Dear Rie,

We don't think that as Americans we should have dropped the Atomic bombs on
Japan. Please don't be offended by what we're about to say. We think
that we shouldn't have done something as drastic as dropping the bomb.
We should have done something, but not this. The Japanese had to be stopped
but not by dropping this death trap. We have become savages by doing so.
Killing thousands or maybe millions of innocent people was too cruel.
What was the reason behind this massacre? Well, many people think it was
to make a quick and easy end to this war. What do we think? I think
it's a lot of bull. To save our lives, we killed other people. Just
dropping the bomb on unexpecting people is not the right thing to do
because it's out of revenge and anger due to the attack on Pearl Harbor.
No one should be able to make such harsh decisions out of spite. After
all, it affected millions of peoples lives. No one can play God and
just kill off people like it's a game. In conclusion, the Atomic bomb
is not the answer to our problems. Two wrongs does not make a right.

Sincerely,
Linda Huang
    and
Susan Leung

We both disagree with the fact that nuclear weapons were used to bomb
Hirosima and Nagasaki. We agree with not having any forms of
nuclear weapons. Weapons give us a false sense of protection from
other countries.

Dropping of the bombs was a selfish act by the President. The
estimations of the lives that would be saved were incorrect. Casualities
(deaths) were 31,000 and the President's thoughts were in saving a half
million to a million people. Ultimately making him seem as the savior
(hero) from a destructive(very bad) situation. This is not how it is
looked upon by us today. The President caused the people of that time to
lose the next generation because of the bombing.

Lives were destroyed by the bombs, death everywhere, sickness, plagues.
Families ended because there was no one else to carry on their name.
All of this had severe emotional and mental impacts on their lives.

Although this act was committed before our time. We would like to sincerely
apologize for the actions of our elders. Thank You.
